What were you doing for work and what are you going to study? How long until your degree?

I was working in a warehouse in the receiving department. Putting away product, pulling down product for our production department. I've been working in a warehouse since I was 19. So that's almost 8 years of that work and it has fricked my body up. No skills other than driving a forklift, your basic computer functions, and dealing with purchasers. Dead end.
I'm studying biology right now with the hopes I can eventually get into veterinary school. Cattle Vet would be my goal, but I'm open to exploring all avenues of that field. Hopefully I can get some good experience before applying because it is very competitive. I have about 18 hours from immediately after high school and this past summer After this semester I'll be at 34, so still a pretty good ways to go. If I can do as many hours as I want to every semester (minimum of 16 hours), I should be able to graduate by Spring 2022.
I've been in school since this past summer, but I was working full time (wasn't hard, just 2 basic classes). Honestly, it just feels good to let my back rest and not worry about much. I hate to to feel like I'm whining but my body has taken a beating over the past 8 years.

I wish you the best of luck.
At a job like you had,you can look around at older workers and see what your future would be like.

Thanks, I appreciate it.
Yeah the guys that had been there for 20 years were in great shape. It took me close to a year to realize they were in such great shape because they did as little physical labor as possible by putting it on the young guys.
But it was still a grim sight to see men in their 50s that had settled. I don't want that to be me.

It can be a tough row to hoe. Hang in there, Chase it hard. Luck helps but perseverance wins out.
You got this.
You really in Boise? Like it?

Thanks for the encouragement, I appreciate it.
Yeah my wife and I moved here as soon as we got married. October of 2017. We absolutely love it, especially this time of year. The downtown is walkable with a lot of places to eat, neat shops, and a pretty good row of bars. There's a good amount rafting in some nearby surrounding towns. The hiking is amazing with a pretty well ran trail system (ridgetorivers.org). The greenbelt system runs along the river and is fairly well maintained in popular spots. Bike friendly, dog friendly. It's leaps and bounds above Louisiana in ALMOST every category. Louisiana food is a million times better.
The first thing we noticed is how damn clean everything is. People don't litter at nearly the rate they do back home. When we go back we fly into Dallas and rent a car from there because the tickets are so cheap, and on that drive in the amount of litter on the sides of the interstate is eye opening.
Like everything there are some downsides, but there aren't that many if I'm being honest.
I could type a damn essay on how much we love this place. It's phenomenal.
