I go to a doc that gives them out like candy if you even look like you're going to say something hurts or might hurt, and I had a former neighbor that's a doc that's the same way, in my case I'm glad because of my old arse aches and pains, but if I don't need them I won't take them, I think it goes back to the individual

My father has severe degenerative arthritis in his spine. He gets by with NSAIDS and the occasional tramadol when it gets really bad or he has to go somewhere and walk around a lot. He's had a hydrocodone prescription for over a year that he's never filled.

Most people don't know a thing about addiction. It's not like people wake up one day and decide to be an addict. Sad situation.

I keep seeing people say this, and it's total BS as far as why to not have the surgery. They are allowed to take auto transfusion, so for a few months before he could bank his own blood for the surgery. In addition, they can use cell saver in surgery and give it right back to him. If he doesn't want to do either of those, or in addition to those, he can start taking iron supplements and Epoeiten prior to surgery to get his levels up.
