This is insight from a guy over at the Nets SB site
He even learned Russian
Also pretty close with Ettore Messina
This is insight from a guy over at the Nets SB site
quote:
“Trajan is like the Swiss Army knife of Brooklyn’s front office. He does everything from assist Sean Marks to managing the Long Island Nets to scouting players all over the world.” “I put an emphasis on LI Nets because he’s done a phenomenal job of transitioning Brooklyn’s culture down to Long Island, and that goes for players, coaches, b-ball ops personnel, etc.”
quote:
“His experience overseas — as a player and as a scout have paid dividends for the Nets. Look at Rodions Kurucs, Brooklyn’s late second round pick in this past year’s draft.” “Langdon identified him and took it beyond just X’s and O’s. He looks for high character players that will fit in with the culture. He understands the importance of the intangible things outside of simply being talented. There’s little doubt in my mind that he’s destined for a great future as a GM one day. He fits the mold that every rebuilding organization needs.”

I'd be cool if he brought in Becky Hammon

First off, I like the guy and would like to see him get an interview and see where it leads.
But if I am to play devils advocate, which I like to do with any candidate, even the ones I favor, my one knock would be that a lot of what people say is special about him: personal dedication to scouting, ability to be hands on with building the team culture, developing D-league talent, are all things that are harder to focus on in that same capacity in the big chair. Where it becomes more about finding the Trajan Langdon’s to put around you to give you the best decision-making insight and development and less of the staying up til 3am analyzing grainy scouting videos on a random euro player before flying out to follow him for a couple days.

I’m a huge Duke guy and this dude could flat out ball back in the day.
But I still like Danny Ferry, give it to him.
Bring in Langdon to be on the FO team if you want, but I gotta give the GM job to an experienced guy, we can’t screw this up.
Ferry had ATL at 60 wins before he was cast aside..
