He's also lost CP and DW to free agency. If they believed in Monty's ability, they wouldn't have been so eager to GTFO.

Right, Monty is the reason CP and DW left New Orleans.

Probably because most people realize it takes time to turn a franchise around. The Hornets were a disfunctional small market team when Monty arrived.

He gets a "pass" because players improve under his coaching. He's not perfect, but nothing he has done warrants his firing. If this fan base is expecting to "win now or hit the road," then they will be in for a long ride.

Where would the Thunder be if they fired Scott Brooks after having terrible seasons? Or Boston after Rivers had 2 straight losing seasons early? At this point of the rebuilding, it isn't all about winning, it's about improving. And this team has improved.

Not even close my man. Conference finals in 3rd year. NBA finals in 4th year.

If you think we are remotely close to this, I want some of the earthworms you're smoking.

Guess what happened in that timespan? Oklahoma's first round picks developed, while filling the roster with talent...

And how about looking at Doc Rivers coaching arc at Boston:

1st 3 years:
45-37
33-49
24-48

Should have been fired, right?

You forget to mention where Doc had a winning % in Orlando at .521, with him being coach of the year in his first year. That gives him the track record that gave him a some leeway that he deserved.

I give you the Thunder argument about KD and Westbrook and Harden. That's the exception to the rule.

Compare him to first time coaches with similar winning percentages. they all have something in common, they get fired.

A guarantee, midway through the second quarter, that the Hornets will lose for the third time in a row last night makes you very knowledgeable. But, you must have forgotten that Memphis win on Sunday and that the Hornets were able to come within a basket of taking the lead.

I said that they were on their way to a loss. Never said a third straight loss. I edited because it was an irrelevant point. 9 games back with 40 (ish) to go is too many as is.

Monty can coach. I love his screen for the eventual screener high pick and roll offense.

Spo doesn't get enough credit. The guy can flat out coach. It's harder actually coaching a team that is so loaded with ISO heavy players than coaching a teach with one ISO guy. That being said the Heat run over 60 sets that ISO LBJ. I know it looks like "street ball" but the spacing and backside action is almost a science.
