I don't buy much and keep stuff forever, wish I had bought more 40 years ago, but $100 bucks was a lot of money then.
1968 Telecaster, bought for $125.00 in 1973
1969 Gibson SG standard, $200.00 in 1975
1972 Stratocaster $275.00 in 1980
1968 Fender Princeton Reverb amp $100.00 in 1977
1990 Takamine acoustic guitar
Dumble combo amp clone
Fender tweed deluxe amp clone
18 watt Marshall combo clone.

No, I don't. Years ago, I was in the oil industry and traveled a lot. Started going to Pawn shops around the country and picked up on all kind of stuff at 20% of the actual value. Thanks to the internet, you can't do that anymore.

Mine is tobacco sunburst, maple neck. Paid $1100 in '91. Crazy how much the early Strats have appreciated. $100? That is incredible. Would've made one hell of investment to have bought a dozen or so.

The 72-79 strats with the 3 bolt neck never seemed to appeal to players, or collectors and did not appreciate as fast as other models, mine is probably worth $2000.00- 2500.00 today which is not too bad, but it doesn't really matter I will either be buried with it, or my kids can sell it.

I know what you mean. I have folks calling me up all the time wanting to buy some of my amps and guitars. I tell them the same thing: "Talk to my kids when I'm gone. You'll most probably get a good deal because they don't crap about them."

I have no musical ability. GF is a classically trained violinist, and wants to learn the mandolin.
