went through the same deliberation about 15 years ago and picked the mark IV long head over the dual rec. to me, the dual rec had an artificial sounding mid scoop built in that came across sounding fake. the mark IV had a cleaner tone that cut better.

as for wattage, i think it's 100w, and unmic'd it can drown out any drummer by the time it gets to 3. some people confuse tube watts with solid state watts.
