Genghis Tron - new album Dream Weapon

These guys are a really unique, talented band. Started out as a crazy extreme metal experimental band that incorporates electronica into their tunes. Their earlier stuff used programmed blast beat drums but their new album that just came out--the first one in 13 years--has an actual drummer. A badass drummer, Nick Yacyshyn, who gained notoriety with his playing for the Baptists and Sumac.

This new record ditches the heavier and explosive metal of their other releases in favor of prog-y, atmospheric, expansive tunes. Fans of Tool , Hum, the Stranger Things theme song, Depeche Mode, Radiohead etc would probably really dig this record. Could very well be my #1 record of 2021.

After a few listens I'm hooked. It grows on you big time. Also great to listen to stoned.
