I watch every episode. The character is done so well that I never really thought about it. Rip and John’s characters are done so well that you’d think they were actual people

Definitely right about that.
It honestly feels like into season 3 it’s getting better and more compelling now you have some idea of the character backgrounds.

The first thing I noticed him in was Pitch Black. I came of age in the 1980s, so I was familiar with Wings.
So, Cole is a Hollywood royalty on both sides - a scion of the Warner family through his mother and his grandfather (Dwight Hauser, Wings' father) was active during Hollywood's golden age, most notably writing for the Oscar-winning Disney short documentary, Ama (1958). Dwight was also good friends with George Reeves, Robert Preston and Dana Andrews from Pasadena Playhouse (where they all sort of came of age/got noticed together).

One of the best characters on TV currently. Done bout as good as an actor can do a part. KC/John Dutton not far behind.

I didn’t catch on to Cole being Rip until several episodes in due to his appearance and demeanor being so different but have learned a lot about the guy in this thread. He’s pretty awesome.
Also very solid performance in Tears of the Sun.

Dude has become my current favorite bad arse after seeing episodes 4-5 in season 3.
Seems like his parts in the show are getting more prominent.
Dude is the star of the show to me now.
