quote:for me Hud and RWAC are two of those movies that had a profound effect on your life, regardless of quality. I first saw RWAC when I was 16 -- the perfect age for it. I saw Hud when I was around 12 -- I never forgot Lon walking away, or the classic final shot of Hud in the doorway, and his to-hell-with-it-I'll-have-a-beer reaction as he shuts the door and the film ends.quote:.No doubt. I think I just didn’t word my first post the right way. I meant to compare the two characters, although Hud is older than Stark, as two seemingly lost and self destructive guys that can’t find their place in the changing worlds in which they live.
However, despite the title and the increased sized of the Newman character's part, the film is actually about the kid, Lon: what choice he will make, whether he will follow the corrupt modern Hud, or the traditional Homer
Lon is the dynamic character in Hud though for sure, as we never really see much evolution from Hud.
