Norm Macdonald's First Great Joke and his "Perfect" Joke

Back in '89/'90, the old Comedy Channel had a bracket type of tournament where they came up with the best comedy bit of their first year on the air.
Norm won it with his famous "Bob the Devil" joke. Probably the first time that I saw Norm do anything.
The bit going around social media now is Norm saying that he considers his Julia Roberts joke as almost the perfect joke.

They are all good, but I've heard better from him. I actually think that last bit on "Yipee Jerry Reuban died" was a lot more funny.

He considers it the closest thing to a “perfect” joke because the setup is almost exactly the same as the punchline
