Dad bod was probably an overstatement. Statham has an "obtainable" bod for most men that didn't lose the genetic lottery. Go work out daily and maybe you can't get that swimmer body but you can definitely get closer than you could ever get to Arnold or Sly. Statham is a throwback action hero that's more similar to Eastwood than Stallone.

This can be why it works so well. His physique is obtainable and so guys can insert themselves in the role(s).
Similar to how they made Kristin Stewart’s character a blank plank of wood for Twilight so all those stupid girls could insert themselves into the fantasy

Snatch and Transporter 1 are must watch whenever I come across them.
My only beef is when his his movies are set in America. He works better overseas.
