Galactus can handle most celestials in single combat except for probably Arishem and One Above All fairly easily. He’s part of the trinity of the universe (Eternity, Death, Galactus). When he’s lost he’s tended to be partially fed or starving and the writers have used him as a jobber. Look at the Annihilation and Cancerverse arcs. Without Galan, those are very different stories.
