Probably the best Hollywood could do with at the time. And - not "ugly".

And part of it was the character she played - a mousy handy(wo)man, kind of an Eeyore personality - always kind of deadpan or depressed sounding.

It was the Southpark of it's day - with all the far-out story lines. Pretty damn funny.
