Oddly, both recent movies illustrate a point I've been trying to make in my head. Scruggs tells several COMPLETE stories in 15-25 minutes each. Roma tells a story in the background in 2 some-odd hours, and does it beautifully.

Now I understand and see that what's been lost in movies is storytelling. Yes, that's terribly obvious and I'm nothing special in pointing it out. But I didn't realize how bad it's become. Film is now literature (yes it's always been, but as the written word has died and movies/video have replaced it movies are pretty much all that could be literature now) these 2 films just brought it all home.

Point being, it's amazing to me that these 2 came out within about a month of each other, in 2018, and on Netflix so outside of the mainstream entertainment media. Imma have a drink and watch them both again.
