Chris Fowler just fricking said he'd like to see Kyrgios make a deep run and "set the place on fire" D'oh!

If Kyrgios makes the Quarterfinals he will face Rafa and I’d love to see that match. Fed looks in form right now handling Johnson.

He looks terrific. He's basically giving a tennis lesson to Johnson.

Prediction: Venus beats Coco easily. I've only seen Coco play a couple times but watched her entire match against Siegemund recently and was unimpressed. Yeah she's the best 15 year old on the planet but she's just s retriever with no weapons right now.
Gauf will most assuredly win now but I will stand by my prediction.

Fed's memory is truly amazing. He's rattling off results from 1998, 99, and 2000.

If course Gauf breaks to open the match and Venus looks uncomfortable and rusty. I don't know what the frick I'm talking about as usual.

Still way early. I said watch out for Dimitrov and he just dropped the first set.

Gauf is physically stronger than I gave her credit for.
ETA Siegemund plays a weird style and was frustrating Gauf. She seems to like just banging from the baseline. She's good

I swear I just saw Londero put in a mouthpiece before the first game of the 4th set. Who said tennis isn't a tough sport?

Yea CoCo can bang out the baseline with the best of them and she’s deceptively quick on the court running down balls. Dimtrov at triple match point now. Great comeback.

Ash Barty drops the first set but up a break in the second. I’m pulling for Barty to go deep so the Aussies will be extra motivated.

It’s interesting how best of 3 seems to be just the right length of match for a top female player to turn things around after a slow start. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve seen Serena and Halep do that over the years.
But in the men’s game, if you get down a set and a break in best of 3, especially against a big server, it’s probably curtains. I don’t know if that’s an argument for or against 5-setters... just something I’ve noticed.

I love the best of five and that’s what makes the 4 Grand Slams special. I’d hate it if the Slams went to best of three for the men. If they want to play a 5th set tiebreaker though I don’t care. The French Open is the last to make them go the distance in the 5th set now.

I’m a fan of the 5th set breaker.
I’m about 90% in favor of the 5 setters. The only thing I don’t like is when a guy has to play 3 or 4 long matches and gets bounced due to fatigue only. I know it’s a war of attrition and I get the argument that if the player would have won in 3 sets he wouldn’t have that problem, but sometimes guys just get screwed with rain or the draw.
Man... it’s a good thing it’s late because what Tsitsipas is doing to this guy is for mature audiences only.

Yea that Greek heathen is going to upset Rafa, Novak, or Fed I bet maybe two of them. Tsitsipas is playing great.
Ash Barty is absolutely crushing the ball and putting it wherever she wants right now. Serena and Barty are the two players to beat for sure. I’m looking forward to seeing Novak play now.

Did you know Ash Barty stepped away from the game to play cricket? When she goes far be prepared to hear about it.

Yea she was playing cricket for like fifty bucks a game and now she’s playing for serious money. Barty has a powerful serve for only being 5’7 too. She’s going to make the Semifinals I’m pretty sure. That’d be a safe bet. There are a bunch of Greek fans in Melbourne that traveled to see Tsitsipas. Rowdy Greek heathens.

Wow this Kraut Struff is going toe to toe with Novak in this 1st set. Sloane Stephens needs to prove that she can still play in Grand Slams. After her US Open championship she nose dived in the Majors.
ETA: Novak owns the Australian Open, Rafa owns Roland Garros, and Federer owns Wimbledon. I could see Djokovic getting his 8th Aussie Open here soon.

I can’t believe Sloane Stephens couldn’t serve out the match up 5-4 in the 2nd set. She needs this win. Hard court is her best surface.
