I started out majoring in Journalism at LSU, but soon figured out that my absolute disdain for talking to strangers (unless I have been drinking heavily ) would be a hindrance in my journalistic endeavors.

As far as I knew, the Manship school was an award-winning school in the mid/late 80s. There was always a writer at the Reveille or student at Manship who won a prestigious national award. Rod Dreher of the NY Post is an alum, I believe. He's been there 20 years or so. Scott Rabalais (duh) is an alum, but it took him 10 years to stop writing like Sam King. I always thought he was a hack while at LSU and his early days at the Advocate, but he has come into his own and is a good writer now.

While the Manship school teaches students to be good technical writers, it also teaches them to be condescending and sarcastic in their tone.

I think Northwestern should be in that top 5 ahead of Cal but that's just me.
