Day hasn’t really clarified the scout team part. He’s basically said he got here late into training camp as a true freshman when he had no chance to start, and at that point, the top guys in the depth chart get most all of the reps.

So besides learning the system and improving his mechanics in QB drills, he won’t get good reps in until the spring.

I still think it made the most sense to let him enroll now. If Day made him wait, he might have flipped so he could get that $ somewhere else. Also gives him more time to learn the offense opposed to a January arrival.
