He's a lock, but it's laughable.

I agree I don’t think he’s the lock people are arguing he is, when was Eli ever considered among the best QBs in the league? 2011 because he submitted the best season of his career but it was obscured by Brees, Stafford, A-Rod, and TB12’s seminal seasons outside of that his stats are not very good and 2 games do not an HOFer make, in all objectivity he’s borderline to unqualified.

In defense of Eli, I'll just leave this here:

In 2011 the Giants had, by far, the worst rushing offense in the league. As a team, they gained 1427 yards on 3.5 ypc.

Their defense was 25th in the league, giving up 6022 yards and 5.6 yards per play.

Manning's receivers were Victor Cruz, Hakeem Nicks, and Mario Manningham. None of them had much of a NFL career outside of their spurts in NY.

When you look at the statistics of that team, it's mind boggling that they won more than 4 or 5 games, much less the Super Bowl.

One year does not a HOF career make. But given Manning's longevity and the way carried that particular team, I'm willing to deal with it.

That was a solid WR core for that time. Cruz was a stud before the Achilles injury.

There is two sides to this coin

Does he deserve the hall of fame:: I think most people would say no

Is he a lock for the hall of fame:: yes. He won two super bowls in a large media hub where he had a good relationship with the media for over a decade and has a great last name. The voters will be tripping over themselves to put him in. It’s going to happen

Lots of jealously over the 2x SB MVP and future hall of famer.

, but he's certainly serviceable and not in the bottom 5.

He was last season, or close to it at least. I can't come up with more than 5 or 6 dudes who were clearly worse.
