No, he is not.
PROBAR is right??
Posted on 7/27/12 at 7:11 pm to lsu31always
Yes. He is. And he's number 2 according to Baseball America.

Lulz at you linking something Keith Law put together.

What's your problem with Law?

ETA: And if you don't like Law, here is what Jason Parks and Peter Gammons said about Profar:
quote:
SS Jurickson Profar: Called home run before the game; near-elite pure hitter; remarkable bat speed; instincts for barrel-to-ball actions; recognizes pitches very well from both sides of the plate; ultra-competitive; followed Oscar Taveras in batting practice group; visible effort to match the insanely impressive BP session by Taveras; was talking to Peter Gammons during one of his cage cycles who opined that Profar was the top prospect in the game; I agreed; would have agreed regardless of which player he named because he’s Peter Gammons; Profar executed in game action; can shorten swing/alter approach; plays up to the level of competition around him; wouldn’t drown in majors now; shows easy power; 50/55 projection on tool at floor; role 7 player at peak; All-Star at major league level.

Gammons isn't a Prospect guy.
Posted on 7/27/12 at 7:37 pm to lsu31always
No, but Jason Parks is. And he is pretty well respected.
Posted on 7/27/12 at 7:38 pm to DrVinnyBoombatz
Still the third best Prospect today.
Posted on 7/27/12 at 7:43 pm to lsu31always
Dylan Bundy and Profar are pretty much interchangeable in any prospect rankings. They are also both 19 years old, 2 years younger than Wil Myers.

I am aware of the ages of the three in question. I like Myers more than I like profar. Bundy is no question the best prospect in the minors.
Posted on 7/27/12 at 7:46 pm to lsu31always
Is Myers ever going to be called up?
Posted on 7/27/12 at 7:47 pm to mattz1122
Yea. They are shopping frenchy for that purpose
Posted on 7/27/12 at 7:50 pm to lsu31always
Obviously there is a question if multiple baseball people are saying Profar is the best talent.

I like Bundy more than Profar as well, but I don't think anyone should be ridiculed for preferring Profar (especially when they are a homer and can't help it).

They're essentially 1A and 1B. I believe Jim Callis of Baseball America had Profar as his number one but went with Bundy because most of the scouts he talked to preferred an true ace.
You also have to put in retrospect how much stock they put on his low A numbers at the time of the mid season re-rankings. It was absurd. His numbers, while still excellent, has normalized.
In all honestly, tomato tomatoe. It's not a big deal. One is the consensus number 1 pitching prospect in the game and the other the 1 position prospect in the game.

Oh I know, I said they are basically interchangeable. What is ridiculous is saying Wil Myers is a lot better than Profar, when pretty much no one thinks that.
Here is what Ben Badler (Baseball America) said:
Bundy and Profar are at 2 very premium positions. A ToRP and an elite SS are very desirable. Like you said, it is pretty much which one you prefer.

Not a surprise, but the most impressive prospect in the Futures Game was Jurickson Profar. Love Dylan Bundy, but I'd rather have Profar.

Usually, more than 1 > means you think he is a lot better.

Or it is for the blind to see that it wasn't a mistake.
Posted on 7/27/12 at 8:26 pm to lsu31always
If that's what you meant, than I interpreted it wrong. Usually when I see more than one greater sign, I assume that they are saying a lot more greater than.
