I think he is definitely worth a developmental league shot. The Rockets are out nothing by giving him a shot. I look at Bruce Bowen and think Garrett could have a ceiling somewhere in that range one day (best possible case scenario) with basketball being his profession. Chances are that will not happen, but still worth taking a shot with the D league IMO.

I always said that with a lot of hard work GT can make it, he's 6'6" good height for a specialist big guard like Bowen, he is a could defensive stopper that needs to become even better in the NBA because that will be his meat and gravy. On the offensive side he just needs to keep workin on his jumper, Bowen couldn't shoot worth a damn when he first entered the NBA, and still can't in certain areas on the floor, but he has come a long way.
