Cal State Fullerton lost tonight, 8-3 to Loyola Marymount at home. Ouchies. Apparently the sting of losing 2 of 3 to Irvine hasn't gone away.

They usually struggle for a period in the middle of the season and then show up at the regional/superregional.

That's pretty accurate. To be honest, I think our weekend pitching is pretty good, but what we run out on weekdays isn't quite where it needs to be yet. Surprisingly Witten, who was a JC stud transfer, has struggled while 2 freshmen have emerged as solid weekend contributors.

Regarding being the team to beat...I would say we are 1 of 3 or so teams to beat. We have the good mix of older and younger players that you need to make it to Omaha, but your young players have to be up to the challenge! Omaha is the goal EVERY year and I think they make it as the #1,2,or 3 seed this year.
