Alvin, Texas

My first MLB game was as a kid at old Arlington Stadium watching Alvin native Nolan Ryan pitching for the Rangers. From that night onward, I was a Texas Rangers fan.

Over 30 years later, I watched another Alvin, Texas native, Nathan Eovaldi, pitch his arse off in Game 5 of the World Series. He didn’t have his best stuff, and he was facing a pitcher throwing a no hitter deep into the game. However, he kept grinding, kept the Rangers in the game, and ended the night as the game winning pitcher of the clinching game.

So, a special shout out to the Houston suburb of Alvin, Texas.
