This is what I cannot understand with state farm. How is the agent worth that much? I am out of state now and use USAA, I feel no need to see an "agent" and appreciate the savings by not subsidizing their numerous billboards and offices (they seem to rival only starbucks in how they pit franchises against each other).
I'd bet that State Farm is going to be a part of the next wave of "retail" store front closings. Between the much less lucrative contracts they are offering to new agents, the rise of internet enabled/centralized insurance (like USAA), and their expansion into financial services (good luck competing there with your "agents"), I don't see the brand loyalty lasting.
