I'm sure nobody has said this but if you really want a good taste of southern culture, you should go see the plantation homes on river rd. Take the Gramercy/ Lutcher exit halfway between NO and BR, go over the Mississippi river and tie river rd. Oak Alley plantation us one of the most beautiful places in the country

For me, an LSU experience is not complete without a trip to the Pastime. Great pizzas and sandwiches - the best roast beef po-boy in town. Plenty of LSU nostalgia and cold beer. There are lots of LSU team pictures, live action game shots from the 70's and 80's.
Did I mention the TV's. Good place for lunch on game day on the sweltering hot days because you can watch some early games in action, get some local flavor and talk football with some of the older fans. You'll have plenty of time to catch the campus experience with the 8:00 PM kickoff.
