It calls for lineman with mobility moreso than drive blockers. WVU ran the spread option, Texas Tech ran a passing offense from a spread formation. UF actually runs a single wing formation with the lineman spread out.

This year you see Jimbo Fisher run the pistol spread at FSU. The lineman were more packed last year because Trickett did not have any mobile lineman but will start sophomores and freshman this year using the scheme.

Fisher can also run pro-set offenses still using the spread it is all a matter of lineman spacing.
