What I fail to understand is why Les Miles gets so much crap over the statement. Lets see you have an obviously subpar line. What would a good commander do. Tell the enemy they suck are say they are good. Get everyone believing they are very good! The kids think they are good and try to live up to it. Defenses don't take advantage of an advantage they have. Football has a lot to do with heart and perception. What the frick did you want Les Miles to say?
I agree with this 100% but of course we will get eaten alive by the negatigers saying that Miles is not that smart.
Miles also attacked one of the weak spots last year (O-line) by implementing the Big Cat drill. He wants the O-line bigger, stronger, meaner, etc. It was drilled into these guys heads that they better bring an attitude on game day. I think this will be the most improved unit on the field this year.

I didn't start the thread to flame the line or anyone who thinks they will be improved...just to get that out of the way.
bullshite.

I just wonder why people think they will be so much improved. As we all know, we cannot trust what Miles thinks or says (no matter your feelings about him otherwise) with reference to predicted play of the line after last year's statements prior to the season.
the truth is you started the thread to flame Miles.

ah ha...finally the truth.

You can start with the lines, both of them, remaining injury free or at least having only one of them at a time hurt. Last season both lines were constantly nicked up. It slowed them down and in a big way. Of course we never hear about it during the season because Miles doesn't go into any detail about injuries.

This.

To the op, it couldn't get any worse. IMO tbob on the bench and hitt gone are two great reasons we are improved. But like I said only way to go was up.

I always hear everyone saying that our line play will be improved. Why do people believe the line will be better?
The simple answer is that it is almost guaranteed to be better because the baseline for comparison is about as low as it is possible to be. In other words, it can't possibly get any worse, and the odds against even just staying the same are astronomical.
Of course, the real question is how much better it will be. It's obviously going to be somewhat better, but if it's only a relatively small improvement, then we'll still have the second worst OL in our history and easily still the worst in the SEC.

Well, if last year's was the worst (which I think it was), and this one is only slightly improved, then it would probably be the second worst.

B/c the tards have no sense of reality and never believe LSU is as bad as everyone says they are.

I tend to think of 99 as being the worst, at least in recent memory. but I seem to remember a bunch of injuries with that group, so it's kinda hard to compare. carry on.

Yes, '99 was god-awful.

True.

quote:And where is it said that the opposing lines won't be as good or better than our new and improved line? Are we the only ones that can improve while the opposition goes status-quo or worse?
Why do people believe the line will be better?
Posi-tigers in general suffer from kennel blindness and fail to put things into proper prospective. We are a bad football team with great talent and crappy coaches. I'm with Delta Doc.... show me the improvement! Talk is cheap....
