Maybe this is why JL is not the starter. To keep him away from Crowton all week.

I think Jordan Jefferson felt a sense of entitlement over the last year while Jarrett Lee never quit trying to improve himself as a player.

I disagree with this. Lee had a pretty bad work ethic last season and it showed. A lot of it had to do with Jefferson being given the reigns at the end of 2008. Lee rededicated himself after last year and it paid off.

It is a lot easier to believe that one of the players put in more effort during his own time than it is to believe that a coach would work on one and ignore the other.

I'd like to know whether this is true or conjecture. I'm sure we won't find out unless a coach reveals it.

fwiw MightyYat has a nephew on the team and he always said that JJ "conviently" left film at the football facility and never studied, mighty used to be a fan of JJ too...tifwiw

One possibility that I haven't seen brought up yet is Billy Gonzales.

he coaches WR's not QB's

And JJ suddenly regresses like no QB in history from the first game of the season.

he was never that good last year....DC's catch on...their smart...

I know Gonzales also deals with the wide receivers but he is responsible along with Gary Crowton to improve the passing attack of this offense.

same dude that got coffee for Mullen and Meyer in the morning...there's a reason billy didnt get the OC job...ill take meyers judge of talent over Miles anyday of the week....just because you coach at LSU doesnt make you a genius...hell look at our head coach...

Lee did lose confidence his first year.

I think this is true- JL became a train wreck up until his injury in the Ole Miss game that year. Funny, at that time, we couldn't understand why Les did not try out JJ earlier, but it took an injury for him to play. Now, here we are two years later, and it is JJ who has become the train wreck; he has become unproductive, and really looks frustrated. Then we see Lee come in, & the team does seem to perk up & get excited on the field. If JJ has lost confidence, which it certainly looks like he has, then Miles needs to realize these next two games are too important to allow him time to play his way back into productivity. We cannot afford to fall behind Auburn & Bama.

First of a diclaimer. I don't know for sure what happened.

Now for pure speculation. It might well be a combination of Jefferson feeling that he had the job wrapped up and getting lazy like Vincent did. Add to the mix Lee's rededication. and things change.
The big unknown is how each performs in practice every day. In most cases that is the decider.

Finally some QB's, like pitchers just might be better in relief.

The coaches know and they aren't going to say. For that I respect them. No need to throw either guy to the Rant mob.

I don't disagree that Jefferson may have gotten too comfortable with having the starting job, I was just pointing out that Lee didn't constantly work to improve himself. He had a very lax attitude last year and it showed. He rededicated himself in the offseason, improved, and things worked out for him.

he looks like a different guy in the game than the guy that was at camp who was throwing accurate 60 yarders

In games, everything happens too fast for JJ.

& the deer are shooting back.
