Why do we not feel like a team?

The offense doesn’t look that way at all from a distance.

Kelly has been clear that he wants player leadership. Who are you leaders on this defense? Last year we had a few guys with BJ and Baskerville and some transfers who came in with a lot of playing experience. Even when there were struggles, you could see them staying engaged. They didn’t quit.

Who’s left now? Brooks seemed to be one of those guys, and he’s literally fighting for his life right now. Wingo? He’s a transfer who’s only been here one year. Do any of you see Penn or Burns as leaders? You can usually tell who the leaders are on the field, and you can’t really see that with this defense.

On the other side of the ball you have a ton of experience and guys who have been here through the coaching transition. We just do not have that on defense this season and won’t until more of the younger guys start playing and developing. Best case is a couple of the younger guys like Toviano, Weeks or Womack are natural leaders and help get things back on track next season.

That’s what heavy use of the transfer portal does
