I can remember the LSU basketball program being decent back in the day (not great, but decent). What is it going to take to get this program back to where it needs to be? Looking forward to hearing some others opinions out there.

We aren't athletic enough. Period.

We aren't big, but we're slow.

Alleva said the program is headed in the right direction and that he is pleased with the progress.
What does a 20 point home loss to Ole Miss matter when we are only in year 3 of a 5 year plan?

I agree.. We are young, unathletic, slow, small, and not well cioached. That is a recipe for a lot of blowout loses.

Trent Johnson's coaching record from previous schools has been good, so I have to agree with what others have said. Lack of talent from the players!!! Sure hope this next recruiting class can benefit the team. We so desperately need a PG who can be the floor General and a Big Man who can rebound.

To answer your question; it looks like we're doing right down the shitter. No effort, no coaching, no talent. We suck right now.

not having talent or developed talent - I can be patient

rebuilding- I can be patient

3-5 year rebuilding plan- I will be patient

Giving little effort, no discipline and a coach who appears to give up and stop coaching once the game is out of hand-- is UNACCEPTABLE!

We should play hard, compete hard and coach hard even in a blow out loss

I agree with the no effort and no talent. I believe Johnson instructs and does the best he can because he has always been strong on D (not offense). His record from Stanford and Nevada back that up. It's the players (no motivation). A Coach can only go so far.

Down the toilet - the moment the idiots let John Brady go.

There are so many foolish people here on this forum that neither played sports or know a thing about them. You can bet the same morons that called for Brady to go, are the same cretins that thought JR was a shoe in for the pro bowl.

Those same fellows thought Crowton was a POS too - such is the maturity level of the fickle fan that does not appreciate the view from above well enough, and suffers from short term memory loss.

Oh, I will not be back to check on the brilliant retorts from the same guys that bashed Butler with oh so much class.

How many in this thread are aware of who did and did not play for LSU today?

The KEY is simply this:

Keep this team together for the next 2-3 years. No more attrition and Dennis Harrises. If this EXACT same team comes back next year, we will be in the NCAA tourney - mark my words. That is to say that NO ONE from the staring 5 and 8 deep ends up transferring, getting kicked off, or anything detrimental to the program.

The talent is there. I know right now it doesn't seem like it, but considering we're LSU and not a basketball destination for the elite high school player, we do have talent. A year from now, if we have Stringer, Turner, Darrenbecker, Ludwig, White, Dotson, etc. all back and healthy, we can at least win the west.

It's very crucial to not lose ANYBODY. Just imagine in '09 if we would have had Randolph with that squad. Final 4 would have been an almost done deal.

It's frustrating, I know. I am mad, too. This year was supposed to be better than last. I assure you we'll be okay next year if we stay together. Remember how bad we were in '99 with Beshera, Jabari Smith, Stromile (for half the season), and co.? Worst to first a year later.

If that's what you need for your program to succeed, dark days lie ahead.

Despite each and every irrational post in which you act so upset over something that everyone already had factored into pre-existing expectations aside from yourself, this team is going to be good under TJ it's just going to take some time.

Next year is important and I think we'll be fine. Calm down your continued posts are tired.
