What difference in coaching/playing styles today vs the 80s/90's

In the 80's the nation's talent was split between a few teams, Texas/Miami/Fsu/Wichita/Lsu toward the end.
They would win 60+ games. The pitchers also threw 2-3 times a week. I recall the 80's FSU pitcher having 20+ wins by the CWS.
Now talent is spread across the board. Many colleges are competitive. Many also struggle up until the regional/Cws.
Is this due to a more long term/MLB coaching style or different type players?

Just like football when the scholarship limits got put in place
