People said this when we fired Orgeron. It meant we could somehow tap whoever we wanted and they would automatically accept the offer.
Turned out not to be true. Kelly was like the fourth (at best) option because everybody else turned us down. Woodward had to scramble to grab whoever he could. Revisionist history aside, EVERYBODY responded to that hire with a collective “Huh?”
We need to be looking for the next 1999 Saban not the next 2025 Saban.

Name the three that turned us down and how are they doing today?
The hindsight bullshite is really wearing. Other than the "fit" thing, a large majority of fans thought Kelly was a great hire at the time and after 2022 the number was a lot higher than that. After which he failed to meet expectations. HE failed. That doesn't make the decision at time of hiring any more/less correct/incorrect.
Even if Riley and Napier had not sucked at coaching just as bad or worse the last 4 years.

Everybody else who? Lincoln Riley was the only other guy that would have been acceptable by fans
