I've been coaching football for over 20 years. I was not a fan of the Coach O hiring, nor will I bash him for wanting, thinking, trying to be the head coach of a top tier program. The staff did not close out like expected with the players thought to be headed to LSU. On the bright side, I've always been a believer that games are won and loss in the trenches. I'm also a firm believer that your Dline can make your DBs look like world stoppers, i.e Bama DBs. I've had state championship teams with average Dline play and great DB play and I've also had state championship teams with great Dline play and average DB play. Losing out on Goodrich,Washington and Surtain this year hurts, however, if the Dline is as good as projected, opposing QBs will have limited time to hurt the defensive backfield for the most part. LSU will live and die over the next two years off of the line play.

The verdict is still out on whether either line will be dominant but if they are and LSU has any type of a passing threat, look out. JMO

How in the world does DBU lose out on three top defensive backs again?

That is a strong indicator of how recruits see this program right now.

Surtain came down to LSU and Bama, and his reason for not choosing a school that produces top flight DB's in his own words was, "championships".

That is a stark reality to accept as a fan but it is true. Had Clemson, Georgia, Oklahoma, etc.... been head up against Bama for Surtain with one of them leading for his services the entire recruiting trail they would likely have closed to deal.

This is a direct hit on these recruits faith in Coach Zer0.

That those top defensive backs considered LSU is incredible if you look at their choices realistically.

Bama just won a National Championship and have been in the college football playoffs every year since it started.

LSU is lucky to be ranked in the Top 20.

It ain't rocket science. Choose Nick Saban and a National Championship team or LSU.

Georgia and Clemson is right there with Alabama.

Yet, LSU is still getting some recruits.

This season, though, is make it or break. Another 9-4 season will just push LSU further down the rabbit hole.

In what was supposed to be his greatest area of strength. As big a fail as attracting the best coordinators in the country and hiring the TE Coach from the AARP as your OC

We should have more home games at night while the better teams get saddled with those nationally televised 2:30 slots!
