1. I'm glad we won the NC in 2007, but its looking more and more like talent finds a way to win in spite of coaching. And same pattern today is in some of those games: sloppy play combined with brilliant talent and insane decisions.
2. In 2008, the problem, we were told, was the co-DCs. Once we have that solved, no more problems, right?
3. In 2009, it was obvious to the brain dead that Crowton was a problem. On top of that, it was revealed that Miles has, at best, a troubling "hands off" approach to game management. Still, we were told, "young QBs, bringing in some new blood on coaching staff, problem solved".
4. In 2010, same problems, only marginally better. Same sloppy play, inexcusable penalties on offense killing drives, mind-boggling play calling and clock management. So we all search for a new "excuse". I say time has run out. All these problems have one thing in common: Les Miles.
You say you are concerned with the "long term future" of LSU football. So am I, brother. And the long term with Miles looks like an increasingly bad version of the past. Will we miss an opportunity next year by making a change? Maybe, but I doubt it. Because how you can look at this coaching staff and think we are that close to contending for a NC in the near term, even with the stockpiled talent that is clearly rotting away before your eyes, is harder to understand than a Les Miles sentence. Because I look at it and see nothing but wasted opportunities and games that are one play call away from a disaster. Talent is keeping this ship afloat. And the thing pulling it down are the so-called leaders.
