Ran across this interview on DandyDon. He interviews Mike Detillier on multiple topics, but this interested me. If you don’t know who Mike is, look him up. He’s a legit insider.

This is the link: Mike Detillier interview

quote:

Ed Ingram is a really good player and a future NFL player and Liam Shanahan along with Austin Deculus are good college players. Chasen Hines is also talented, but needs some work on his overall techniques.

quote:

Talk about the importance of developing younger guys along the offensive line, guys like Kardell Thomas, Anthony Bradford, Marlon Martinez, Marcus Dumervil, Charles Turner, Xavier Hill.

Mike: And having everyone back gives you time to build up your depth there. Kardell has had some injuries and so you are concerned about his health more than anything. Bradford is a massive man with talent — Coach O spoke about him maybe being the most talented OL he has — but he needs to lose some weight and get in better condition. He is down in the 340s but O wants in the 320s. Martinez saw some time last season and the coaches raved about his ability to play both guard and center and how technically strong he is. Dumervil is a really good big man athlete and he will need to work on physically getting stronger and upgrading his overall techniques. Turner is a good player, but he doesn’t have as much meat on the bone as you would want and now he has started to put that weight on. The coaches raved about Xavier Hill and his foot movement skills and pass blocking ability during the summer drills.

quote:

Looking ahead at recruiting for 2022, which in-state prospects stand out to you as must-gets?

Mike: Because you are losing most of your starting unit along the offensive line, if not all of it, then OT Will Campbell of Neville, guard/tackle Emery Jones of Catholic High School and center/guard Bo Bordelon from Newman became top targets.

Hopefully there will be a Spring and Summer closer to normal and there can be better development in this all-important group. Conditioning, strength, technique and cohesion are important focuses at this time and it killed the team not having a good offseason last year.

Hopefully Moffet has them all offseason and can bust some you know what in the weight room and get these guys in shape
