I don't know if he'll start but I think he'll see the field a good bit. Francois intrigues me in that safety/linebacker hybrid position.
I think Karnell Hatcher could be a force there as well..that dude lays the wood.

DE: Edwards
DT: Nevis
DT: Downs
DE: Aghayere
Montgomery and Pep first DEs in to sub. Davenport and Hicks first DTs. I wouldn't be surprised if Brockers beats out pep and pep gets moved to DT. Brockers could also play DT, but I feel like he has more of a DE frame.

With all of the talent we have recruited to d-line i refuse to believe that anything other than coaching and player development will be to blame if we are not back to our dominating d-line ways next year.
Also, wasn't mingo said as a recruit to be raw but possessing prototypical DE speed and frame? After a year in the weight room and proper training he should be god to go by next year.
Re: LB's I love what I have seen of Baker since his freshman year. Hope he gets a lot of PT next year to see if his motor and physicality can translate to a full game.
I also like the idea of move Chad Jones to the Harry Coleman role and letting Loston take over the safety spot for 3-4 years. That kid is a beast and I think Jones may lack ideal safety speed anyway...He is a proven playmaker, but ill take a fast LB over a half-step slow safety any day. Especially since we have a stud like Loston waiting in the wings.

I agree, everyone forgets how impressive Minter was as a recruit. I think he will start in the middle allowing Shepperd to play one side and Baker the other.
+ 10000..... I believe this would be a good move, as Shep is more natural from the outside. I also believe he'd be a killer blitzing more often. Shep's cover skills aren't the greatest at this point, but he can and should improve.

Francois will play Coleman's role.
Possibly, but based on Shep moving to Mike I think Jones would be better and Loston I'd rather take the ISO than Shep. Jones becomes the
cover man, allowing Shep to roam the field freely.
Killer secondary, anyway you slice it.

I also think Mingo might get some PT as a rush LB/DE. With Montgomery, Mingo, Davenport and Brockers added to Downs, Edwards, Aghayere and Nevis, I think our pass rush will be improved next year.
I could not agree more. We have depth issues at DE, not DT. We're young, but we're going to be fine at DT.
I really think the key this year is the development of both Minter and Mingo. They have a pretty good linebacking coach to develop them.
This defense should be very good, if not great, and honestly was not (and isn't going to be the problem next year, either)the main problem.
Forget the third and Chavis crap...had the defense been on the field 28 minutes a game,
not 38, had more time to make some third down adjustments, or even rest them, and would have won a couple more games.

I feel like it's the other way around. At DE, we have Chancey, Pep, and Edwards coming back, and will add young speed guys in Montgomery and hopefully Mingo. At DT, Nevis and Downs, while adding Davenport. Brockers can probably play either, but due to depth will likely see more time at DT, and can we even count on Hicks being here?

Add a pass rush to this year's defense and 3rd and Chavis is not an issue.
