so if ridley goes down with injury are we suppose to let sheppard (who doesn't play full time at running back) or holiday play the rest of the game at running back? or are we going to switch to a no back offense with limited plays? a running back has more responsibilities than just running the ball. they also are required to block and know the play book. if ford is the best replacement to this in an emergency situation then play him now. Jefferson is already feeling the affects of poor blocking. rather see him blind sided and taken out permanently?
so we're not bcs or sec championship eligible. just throw in the towel? what the hell is this talk? we play every game to our best ability. arkansas isn't a push over. ask florida.
our fate for next season is upon us. to those here who act like it's BCS or bust every year you should be concerned with winning our last two games with conviction. the ole miss loss already put a speed bump in the road for next season. if we want a higher preseason ranking then it started with ole miss and it continues with arkansas.
No retreat, no surrender; that is Tiger lore. And by Tiger lore we will stand and fight... and die. A new age has begun. An age of freedom, and all will know, that 300 Tigers gave their last breath to defend it!
Coach Miles: Tigers! Prepare for glory!
Negatiger fan: Glory? Have you gone mad? There is no glory to be had now! Only retreat, or surrender or death!
Coach Miles: Well, that's an easy choice for us, Negatiger! Tigers never retreat! Tigers never surrender! Go spread the word. Let every member of the Tiger nation assembled know the truth of this. Let each among them search his own soul. And while you're at it, search your own.

Just clearing this up..
1. Steltz played in 3 games that year (according to lsusports.net). His RS did not get burned for 1 play or 1 meaningless blowout game. Thats a misconception. He played in 3 games, and wikipedia actually shows him playing in 4.
2. Daniels was burned in the SECCG...not a meaningless game. There is a difference.

+1
to burn a redshirt of a player to play against arkansas and a bowl opponent is absurd, especially when all the other RB's have been underutilized all season.

Damn what is the big deal about taking the red shirt off ford?
I am will and have criticized miles every bonehead, mentally challenged step of the way but this just doesn't qualify.
We are still LSU right? Still capable of landing the #1 rb any year right? Worst worst case scenario we still have 2 years to recruit a replacement for Ford...
If Ford is a sophomore next year maybe this in some small way helps landing Lache this year also.
Anyway, stay focused on the legitimate things to bash miles for...unless this is all just a tactic from an insider who know LSU's decision makers hate burning redshirts more than mismanaging games and player development and this will get them to wake up and replace the guy

Personally, I don't think a runningback of Ford's abilities should ever be redshirted. The great back's I remember at LSU didn't redshirt: Faulk, Davis, Hilliard, Vincent, ( played best as freshman) Harvey williams. I think redshirts should be for injury years and 2 or 3* athletes that need size increase to play their positions. Miles woulda prolly redshirted Trent Richardson also.

he hasn't practiced with the offense all year, and he hasn't practiced with them this week. I seriously doubt his redshirt is going to be burnt.
