I do have a question... Where is the world has ludwig been. He's been out all season I would like to see him get the senior night start but idk if he will ever play again.

He had a second concussion, and is likely out for the year.

Alabama didn't do us any favors last night losing to Ole Miss. That means we can't pass up Ole Miss. However, Tennessee still has two very losable games at Auburn and home versus Missouri. If they lose both and LSU wins both, the Tigers could still get into 6th place. 5th is now impossible, which is fine. Really need Auburn tonight though.

It's Aggie senior night tonight.

Texas A&M is plenty motivated. Tigers still win.

Last time it was on Cox ch.16, It was also on Direct TV 677 here in BR. Coincidentaly, that was also against A&M, LSU's first SEC win of the season.

We need to step up our perimeter defense tonight.
Elston Turner is obviously going to burn us to some degree, but we dont want to give up dumb shooting fouls on him either.
Or on Harris - they both have FT percentages over 80%.

IMO, we can easily give this game away on fouls, whilst having them beat otherwise. I'm looking for good defensive discipline tonight- are ya listening, Malik?

We don't need UT to lose twice. If LSU wins out which is very possible (@ A&M, vs Ole Piss) and UT splits (@AU, vs Mizzou) assuming Ark takes care of A&M at home LSU would win a 3 way tie and get the 6 seed. However if Ark loses then we would not win the head to head tie breaker over UT.

So basically LSU needs to win out bc UT is going to split the next 2 and ARK is close to unbeatable at home.

I believe you have this wrong. If A&M, Tennessee, and LSU all tied like the scenario you have above, each team would be at 10-8.

The three teams played each other 1 time apiece, each going 1-1. The problem now is that both Arkansas and Tennessee beat Florida the #1 seed. So the 6 seed would go to a coin flip between Arkansas and Tennesse while LSU would be left to the 8 seed.

quote:

Three-Team Tie (or more). When three or more teams are tied, the following procedure will be used in the following order until the tie is broken. If two teams remain tied after a tiebreaker provision, the two-team tiebreaker formula will be used.

Best winning percentage of games played among the tied teams (Example: Team A is 3-1, Team B is 2-2 and Team C is 1-3 - - Team A would be seeded highest, Team B second-highest and Team C lowest of the three).

Best winning percentage of the tied teams versus the No. 1 seed (and proceeding through the No. 12 seed, if necessary).

If two teams remain, coin flip by the Commissioner.

If three or more teams remain, draw by the Commissioner.

For example, if LSU finds a way to sweep the Aggies and Rebels to finish at 10-8 in the SEC, the Tigers could climb as high as No. 6, but only if Arkansas and Tennessee each finish 1-1 to allow LSU to win a three-team tiebreaker with a higher overall win percentage.

He is wrong. Mr. Harris should get his facts straight before writing an article. Overall win percentage plays 0 role in tournament seeding.

I don't understand why he would say we want Tennessee to go 1-1. Obviously we hold tie breaker over Arkansas, and Missouri and Auburn (Tennessee's opponents) arent going to affect our seeding.

Everyone makes mistakes. I wish we only needed Tenn to lose 1. That would be great!

LSU's best scenario right now is:

LSU wins out. (duh)

Tennessee loses out (@AUB and vs Missouri - both very possible)

UGA lose at least 1 game (@Bama and vs Kentucky - very, very likely)

In this scenario, LSU would receive the 6 seed.

If LSU wins out and Tennessee wins one of two, LSU could get stuck in the 8 seed. If Tennessee wins one of two, AND Arkansas somehow loses at home to Texas A&M then we would be the 7 seed, behind Tennessee but ahead of Arkansas. We do not want to be in a three way tie with Tenn and Ark. We lose that scenario.

SoS is the man!
Should be writing for the Advocate.

Here's a copy of a post i made to another thread, it ended in a rant, sorry :

I hate the new guy assigned to men's bball (Harris).
He's overly verbose (swallowed a thesaurus I think). He's also extremely negative when reporting on the Tigers.
I expect a reporter to call it like it is, but he's been downright
antagonistic at times.
His report after the away game to Miss. St. was so off-base in some aspects.
I sat right behind the LSU bench for that game. JOB was not playing that well and in foul trouble 1st half. Hickey was also on the bench in the 1st half. I watched Anthony watching the game with intense focus, get up and talk to CJJ about some stuff he saw, and when JOB came off with his head down, Hick sat down in front of him and talked to him very seriously.

Harris reported "Hickey sat on the bench looking glum"!

AND when we played Fla, the Advocate Sports section front page ran a big pic of Florida playing someone, and the headline was about Fla, and all the info was about Fla, nice to get a pre-game scouting report, but this was over the top (Prefer to get my pre-game info from SoS!)

Why wasn't the headline something like "Tigers play #1 Florida", with a nice big pic of JOB rebounding or something? Then some info on Fla as part of the article. It's no wonder casual fans don't go the games.

Grrrrrrrrrr. Now I've got myself all annoyed.

If there's only a 2 way tie with Arky with us both being 10-8 wouldn't we then be the #7 seed?

Arky will win at home (10-8)
Georgia loses last 2 (8-10)
Tenn. wins last 2 (11-7)
LSU wins out (10-8)

So by calculations

Mizzou, Ole Piss, Gumps, and Vols are in four way tie for 3rd place leaving LSU and Arky in 2 way tie for 7th and LSU holds tiebreaker.

I was updating even after the inital post. It has since been updated to include the scenario you talked about.

So much going on and so many different scenarios still are possible.

Gotcha. I look forward to your pre post game summaries. All I really care about is LSU taking care of business everything else is just gravy. Although I would much rather the 6 or 7 seed but regardless the goal is to just win no matter who the other team is.
