when keiland came in 06, there was JR, bowe, davis, and laron just as first rounders

That was AFTER the 06 season. I said Keiland would be considered top 5 going into 07.

Obviously, it didn't work out that way.

All I'm saying is that saying that PP is better than players like Dickson, Alexander, Jones, Hitt, Barksdale, Riley, Alem, Nevis, Coleman, Trindon, or Keiland right now is just premature.

Again, look at the way Tiger fans thought Keiland was going to blow up going into 2007. A five star stud coming off a freshman year where he made big contributions toward the end of the year in 06. The situations are actually VERY similar.

I think that if you rate all of the players on the current roster by potential and past production PP is up there in the top 5

I agree I said in my original post that I would put PP in the next cluster of players after those top 3. But I would give the nod to players who have made an impact for a longer period of time than PP when ranking them.

Let's not forget that Laron Landry was very similar to PP. And in his sophomore season one of, if not the best player on the team.

But Laron made MUCH more of an impact as a freshman. He started all but 1 or 2 games for the #1 defense in the country and a national championship team and was a unanimous Freshamn All-American. PP has a ways to go before comparing him to Laron.

CB is a very demanding position and the way I gauge a good corner is the times that the QB throws to the receiver that you're covering. PP didn't have too many QBs pick on him last year and he was a freshman! That, to me, is the ultimate respect.

Agreed.

That's a fair statement and Laron to me is one of the best DBs LSU has had in a while. But you do have to remember that Laron didn't have much competition from upperclassmen at the safety position. He did have a great freshman season, because we didn't have much at safety and he was a tremendous athlete.

PP is very similar. He was thrust into action due to the lack of experience at the CB position and excelled. PP probably would have been a Freshman All-American if he would have started every game, such as Janoris Jenkins from Florida.
