"...the clock mismanagement in the Auburn game was inexcusable."
Lsugoofpro, what game are you referring to? In the 2007 game against Auburn, the play clearly goes in with over 40 seconds on the clock. The only clock mismanagement was from Flynn.

Les is good enough for LSU, all he has to do is win the NC next year and all this crap will go away.
Not going to happen. Sorry.

FAIL. Who is Flynn's coach? Who has a history of botching clock decisions? Who called timeout after an interception against Tenn? Who let the clock run out at the half against Georgia? Who was it that had no clue at the end of the Ole Miss game?
I'll give you a hint. His initials are LM.
If it was a one-off type deal, I'd lay the blame on Flynn. Bet when there is a pattern, I'm laying it on the HC, right where it belongs.

I would say winning and top recruiting classes are a pattern too.

I'll be damned if I'm gonna let you pin this one on Leo Mazzone.

Not enuf people on this board remember the the Archer, Hallman, and Dinardo years. Not to mention Stovall.
I have to admit thatI've been spoiled by the 2 NC and consistent success of 2001 - 2007.
But LSU has a lousy record of hiring coaches in general. And there are only a couple of Saban's, Stoops, Carrolls, Meyers, etc. to hire. And frankly, those guys aint coming to LSU. So a replacement would have to be an assumed up-and-comer like Saban was and Miles was supposed to be. Thats a risk no matter who is doing the hiring, and as I said, LSU has many, many more mishires than homeruns.
Is Miles perfect? No. But has he proven he can win in the SEC? Yes.
That already puts him ahead of anybody who would take the LSU job at this point.
He can recruit, and he is not afraid to change his staff when things arent working. But he has managed to do it in a way that allows assistants to find employment and save face. Think what you will, but that's classy.
Yes, I think LSU under Saban or Stoops or Meyer would be better overall, on a year to year basis. But we could roll the dice on someone thought to be the next big thing, and fail big-time. The SEC is a meat-grinder, and flaws are exposed quickly and ruthlessly.
If Miles continues to lose to AL and FL, then recruiting will suffer and his ability to lure big-name coordinators will suffer, and then he needs to go. Until that happens, we should appreciate the good traits that he has, support the team, and hope for more years like 2007.
In the 1990's a 9 - 3 record would have gotten the coach a 5yr extension. Everyone goes thru down cycles. Give Les a chance to put LSU back on top.

if more people remembered the 90's then they wouldnt be so spoiled but all in all...i like the high expectations. it shows we have turned the page in my opinion.
