I'm glad I'm not the only one. Gary does a great job of describing formations and why things worked or didn't work. He also does a great job of explaining penalties and what happened in areas of the field you can't see on TV. Yes, he has an arrogant tone and he says some odd things when he gets off subject. But he's still one of the best color commentators in terms of giving the viewer information about each play.
No offense, but when he is doing said descriptions I feel like I'm watching the fricking Super Bowl. Do you really need someone to explain what a screen is?
Or to make up what he thinks a player is doing/thinking? "I think he is saying Paper Champions"
fricking terrible.

Have you noticed how many commercials they run? Two running teams and it took 3:40 to play the game. Its hard to get any rhythm to your offense when they take a 5 min. commercial break after every other play. CBS sucks big time.

I don't need someone to explain what a screen is. But lots of people do. And it's really nice to go back and look at holding and pass interference penalties several times. Lots of tv crews will just skip over it and say, "oh by the way, holding on Georgia, it's 1st and 20." It's also nice to have him look at coverages and explain where players should be in when they're in zone and who they should have covered, etc..... I do agree, he's kind of annoying when he goes on his tangents. I remember him saying some stupid stuff about the Heisman during the Fla UGA game last week.
