Thru 5 games:
Godchaux 6-solos, 5-tackles for loss (21 yds) and 3 sacks (17yds)
Lacouture 1-solo, 0-tackles for loss, and 0 sacks
I watch #91 on almost every snap and I just don't see what is keeping him at starter over Gilmore, Herron, or Thomas.
Godchaux and Gilmore should be starters.
Stop.
Do you know anything about defenses beyond a few stats?
What if...just what if...Lacouture job was to take on two OL and play two gap defense while Godchaux is playing a 3-tech DT role and shooting the gap.
If that is the case...and some of it is...then maybe Lacouture is doing exactly what he is supposed to do, funneling the plays to the left or right of his position so others can make the stops while taking on two OL. And maybe Godchaux is not doing a good enough job as a 3-tech based on the stat line given.
In other words, look behind the stats and learn WTF is going on. It is more than a few numbers.

His stats may be misleading but he has a point. I would love seeing more Herron and Gilmore. That's one position that I don't notice a difference when the second string comes in.
