We allowed just 12.6 points/game in 2006.

You can't beat that with a stick.

I have a feeling our defenses are about to be lights out for the future. Ron Cooper is going to coach the hell out of those DBs, Chavis is going to create a fantastic LB core, and Brick Haley has a bunch of freaks to work with at the DL.

I project MAJOR improvements this season!!

Agreed. Can't wait to see what Cooper does with the defensive backs, he should have a field day with Chad Jones. Hopefully Chavis gives Baker more playing time, kid is just suicidal and lights out on kick off coverage

It depends on how you feel about the first 2 games of the Miles/Pelini era when they gave up 61 points to ASU and Tennessee (both ranked at the time, I think), as compared to the first 2 games of 2006 when LSU gave up 6 points to crappy AZ and ULL.

The '05 team only gave up 11.3 ppg after Tennessee, and that's including the SECCG where UGA scored 34 points on only 250 yards and 16 first downs. Plus, the '05 team had 3 OT periods to contend with, including shutouts of a 9-win Auburn team and a 10-win Alabama team.

All things considered, it's a really close call as to which team had the better D.

Wow, you're really going out on a limb there.
