Percy Harvin missed 2 full games with injury and only played sparingly against FSU and Miami.

So, really he had 110 touches in 10 full games and parts of 2 others. Also, Florida blew out quite a few people and he didn't see much time in the 2nd half in some instances in his junior year.

Just FYI.

TY for that little Info... Didnt know that...

So add in 5-6 punt returns and 3-4 kickoff returns extra 10 touches a game, and thats around 21 touches per game.....excuse me for being 7 off....

I dont know anyone who thinks RS should be our starting QB. But he shouldve been given a legitimate shot to be. And maybe he was. We arent allowed to watch practices.

RS shouldve been able to throw out of the wild cat last year. His arm cant possibly be that bad. Didnt Keiland throw a pass against AU in 2008? RS played QB in HS, went through spring practice, summer workouts, summer practice, an entire season of practice, and then bowl practices. I cannot accept that he wasnt able to throw a single pass.

So if RS is a full time WR, then great. As long as he's on the field. Gonzo should make him into a weapon. (It's amazing we didnt already have a single coach on the highly paid staff who had a clue of what to do with such an athlete).

ill buy that...but I will say this...I want to see him on TV in one game for 1 Half of football playing QB....to show every ignorant prick on this site that the offense would run circles around our offense last year... Im sure he would mess up, throw picks, fumble and all those things that EVERYONE else does...but his positives will greatly out weight his negatives...till that happens ill believe he is better then JJ...

He came with the opportunity to play qb. I guess that he was given the opportunity and it didn't work out. I don't think he'll be disgruntled.

The Lord Savior Messiah Water Walker, (As I like to call RS based on the wretched excess hype by Rantards) WAS given an opportunity, but he couldn't handle it mentally. He couldn't even adequately learn a few basic running plays. He lined up wrong, went the wrong direction and didn't know his assignment on many of the times he was put in the game. That's why he didn't play more.

Unless Gonzales is a miracle worker WR coach, there's little chance RS is going to learn how to run routes well enough to see any significant time in 2010. He needs to be a specialty RB. Just give him the f'ing ball and let him do what he does best: Run Fast. Don't make him have to think, just let him run like Forrest Gump. (Run Russell/Forrest Run) He should be used like Trent Richardson was used at Bama. You can't hit what you can't catch......

You're an idiot.

He was trying to learn 3 positions, that's why. If he was allowed to focus on what he does best, we wouldn't be having that problem.

No, he didn't play more because we have stupid fricks running our putrid offense.

I'm not sure what argument you're referring to here, but it's not the same one we had before the season started when you called those of us who thought Shep would eventually wind up somewhere other than QB stupid.
No, the argument was about semantics, what we would call him. There was no doubt he was going to be lining up in different positions, but to deny someone who ran for 9,000 yards in high school in Texas the ability to run the ball out of the backfield in various formations is beyond retarded. I would call that a QB, a wildcat QB, NOT A WR. That is the argument. Why would you want to make someone into a WR who had never even caught a pass? Why would you remove their one skill set that he was recruited for, RUNNING THE BALL?

Seems to me like you are crawfishing to cover up your Rantardism.

Well, since you never provide any meaningful commentary, you only come in to a thread late and try to flame those who are commenting, I would call you the king of the Rantards.

something tells me it was ROUGLY around 15, if that. I mean you got Brandon James on punts, and I can't imagine him returning that many kicks.

Ya, but its way more important to make the rantards happy then to utilize Shep's talents even if shep himself says he would like to play more at WR. I think the rantards know Sheps heart way more than he does.

Will Les let him on the field this yr. at any position??? One more yr. of riding the pine, he maybe thinking of transferring. Hope not but he has wasted a lot of talent since he has been at LSU.

How about writing the following: "Hopefully, Miles will make good on his promise to have Shepard play as many downs as possible as an all-purpose back (WR, slot WR, RB, kick returner and some snaps in the Wild Tiger formation). Miles himself took most of the blame for not getting R.S. on the field enough, so he's got an opportunity to fix that in 2010.

Sure, he could transfer after his soph season (he also could have left after the bowl game but didn't), but why would Miles risk that--and hurt his own team--by having him riding the pine again? Miles did recruit him to be a big-play difference-maker, and the dude's electric. Miles & Crowden had a front-row seat of what RS can do, and his upside is very, very high. He's crazy-fast with mad skills, is a likeable kid who didn't complain much, especially through the media.

I bet you will. I won't, though. According to this, it looks like Percy returned all of ZERO punts/kicks during his Florida tenure.

Anyway, my point was never that Shep wasn't completely mis-used last year and needs to be much more involved this year. But 28 touches a game in college is absurd for anybody, no matter what position they play. And it would be beyond retarded for somebody of his stature. If he can get 10-12 touches while still being in the game for other teams to have to think about for several other plays, then he will have been used effectively
