More of a general query. I really don't get why anyone would be happy about retaining Miles. In my view, those individuals might as well be pumping their fists and yelling "Yes, we just reduced our championship chances! Geaux Tigers!" Strange way to be an LSU fan. Anyway, it is what it is now.
The issue is you assume getting rid of Miles can only result in an improvement. There is no guarantee of that. If you can't get a home run hire, changing just to change could be very detrimental to the program.

It must have been cold there in my shadow
To never have sunlight on your face
You were content to let me shine, that's your way
You always walked a step behind
So I was the one with all the glory
While you were the one with all the strength
A beautiful face without a name for so long
A beautiful smile to hide the pain
Did you ever know that you're my hero
And everything I would like to be?
I can fly higher than an eagle
For you are the wind beneath my wings
It might have appeared to go unnoticed
But I've got it all here in my heart
I want you to know, I know the truth, of course
I know it
I would be nothing without you
Did you ever know that you're my hero?
You're everything I wish I could be
I could fly higher than an eagle
To never have sunlight on your face
You were content to let me shine, that's your way
You always walked a step behind

While you were the one with all the strength

Settling for mediocre because you are afraid of failure is a cowardly way to go through life. I aquaint this type of thinking to those people who constantly live in fear of the next impending disaster to fall upon them. They are never willing to take a chance and are often dwelling on only the possibility of negative outcomes. What if we hired a "less than homerun hire and he turned out to lead us to several consecutive NCs? What if we hired Saban back and got our asses handed to us by every team in the conference for several years? What if we stick with Les and this trend continues down a spiral to obscurity in football? These are all possibilities. The thing is, Les has had several chances with high talent to produce championship teams. He has failed. We have been down that path. It's time to try something different.

And if we end up with a Dooley type hire and actually drive the program into the ground? That's still better than keeping Milesfor now?

Once again as I stated, you are living in fear of failure. We are heading in the wrong direction. LSU has no excuse not to be able to recruit enough talent that the talent alone shouldn't make us a mediocre team. Being the only in state power 5 school in a state loaded with talent gets you middle of the line. Georgia is in the same boat.

So you're just dodging my question? Cool.

Tell us about all this line backer, o line, qb talent that you assume grows on trees in Louisiana and "anyone can recruit them". Seriously, please show me.
If any coach relied on Louisiana talent alone to recruit, lsu would be getting their teeth kicked in with mainly just a bunch of athletes and no big bodies.
People not understanding this simple fact is getting annoying and tiresome to listen to.
