All can be blamed on scheduling/opening game loss

This is more of a theoretical discussion, but having to play a P5 team first game of the season, and especially losing it, seems to put a major strain on the season.
Maybe LSU is still playing the way they are now if they win that game, but losing puts you down in the count from the start. There’s a cloud on the team from the start, that takes a lot of effort, and mental energy to break out from under. They win 6 strait games, which took a lot of all hands on deck to pull off. It’s hard to keep that level going. Then when things go wrong, they went really wrong, and maybe there’s no way to pull out of it quickly. That bullet was out of the gun in the 6 game winning streak.
It should would be good to win the first game and start 1-0, instead of 0-1 and on thin ice playoff wise right off the bat. It may be worth it to get out of these “premier” opening weekend games coming up, because they don’t help, and can only hurt. Short term and long term season wise.

Zero reason to play at Clemson next year. Pay the fine and add another home game.

Either the team is good enough to win championships or it isn’t. Playing an average USC team outside of conference shouldnt be a big deal.
And to your point about the season going off the rails if you lose week 1…Any coach who can’t keep a team together after a loss isn’t worth much.

Really doesn’t mean much if you lose 3 SEC games
