the player were confused as hell in every game on defense.
I will never forget Chad Jones' bewildered look in pretty much every game. Not knowing if he should stay back in coverage or sneak up to the line. Most of the time, he would just kinda hang out there watching receivers run by him. It was like Lou Tepper all over again.
After all of this, we still managed 8 wins. Hard to believe.

Can football season get here soon so that we can move on and complain about current issues, goodness gracious?

We had no QB ready last year.
The season starter was a walk-on for christ sakes

I rewatched the florida game today
curtis taylor and some other players were setting up to block the point after by the florida kicker, and I think 5 of the 11 players actually moved in to block.
the other six just kind of sat there.

I think that helpless feeling breeds lack of effort.
Ok this is the kind of uninformed, assinine, bullshite that really pisses me off.
Now, Doc, I don't know if your post was intending to blame Jarrett Lee for the defense's effort on that play or not, but I do know you as an avid Lee basher, and the response to your post indicates that these idiots are claiming that it was lack of faith in Lee that led to that lack of effort against Florida. If that was not your intent, consider yourself excused from this rant.
Whoever thinks this is a goddamn moron. Lee's play didn't begin to affect team morale until the GEORGIA game.
LSU was 4-0 going into Florida BECAUSE of Lee's play against Auburn ON THE ROAD after a rough start and a very good game against MSU when our D looked pourous at best. Hell, his play was the reason most idiots on this board thought LSU was going to beat Florida.
The D looked pretty bad against MSU, and gave up 20 1st quarter points to put us in a major hole against UF before the O got the score back to 20-14. Then the wheels fell off ON DEFENSE, and UF blasted our D and was already up by 4 TDs in the 4th quarter BEFORE Lee threw his pick 6 that game.
To blame the play of our defense in the Florida game on Lee is fricking infuriating and typical of the fricking simpleminded idiots on here who don't know dick about football or anything else.
GFY.

I'm not:
"We have a horrible taste in our mouths," Black said. "Last season, that's not us. That's not how we play. A lot of things went wrong. There's nobody to blame but ourselves." - Ciron Black

:sigh:
what do you constitute as bashing?
saying that I prefer seeing jefferson start over lee?
that's bashing now?

Not at all. I prefer seeing JJ start too and think he's poised for great things.
I'm glad that you weren't implying that, although I'm not sure what the point of your comment was in a thread blaming our Ds lack of effort on JLee if you weren't agreeing with it, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. But don't deny that last year you were extremely critical of Lee (at least at some point after you switched from praising him) and didn't fully acknowlege all the relevant factors contributing to his frustrating mistakes, namely, play calling that continually put him in position to make the same throws over and over that was obvious to everyone that he simply couldn't make.

Not sure what that quote has to do with this conversation. I was talking about the attitude of the defense at the time of the Florida game. That quote is obviously retrospective of the entire season.

the play calling was fine for the most part.
the reads and check off were T-E-R-R-I-B-L-E
I rewatched the florida, app st, and auburn games yesterday, and WOW... lee was awful, even in the app st game.
he had a INT in that game, like many other from staring down lafell for 5 seconds, locking on to him, and then throwing.
the safeties/linebackers were reading his eyes the whole time.
hence why the safety from bama had three of his 4 picks in that one game.

I am still wondering why we blame JL for Florida, when score was 17-0 before first interception
How about because LSU's offense had 0 points and Florida had 17!
