In 2007 we had Bo Pilini, Glenn Dorsey, Ricky Jean-Francois, and Craig Steltz. Even better than when we had Laron Landry and Will Muschamp back in 2003.

Our 2007 defense had 20 or more points scored on them 7 times.

That happened one time to our 2003 defense.

Great. What is the only team in LSU history to score over 500 points in 1 season?

Great. Did the 2007 Offense ever get shut out like the 2003 Offense did against Florida?

It's irrelevant. I was talking about defense. I know you probably got upset, but I can't help that.

It doesn't matter.

The question was, Does 2003 Defensive TALENT come close to 2009... you answered your own question!!!to early to tell but everyone on this site says and hopes they do.

Everybody take a deep breathe and remember The 2003 Defense came on the field 3 plays later we had the ball back, 2007 came on the field and hoped we had the ball back.

Then does 2009 team have the overall talent of 2007 team, This is a would be a hell ya,

This 2009 team could be that team Q.B play and Linebacker play will tell the tell for 2009. Three words for Les Miles, The LSU team and fans......

BEAT TIM TEBOW

I'm not ashamed to say we won it all in 2003 & 2007, but please don't compare the two.

I said not ashamed to have won it ALL (BSC CRYSTAL BALLS) in 2003 and 2007, don't turn this thread into a USC AP Poll winner shitfest...

If someone should ask Pete Carroll and and USC Trojans on August 1st, 2009 what goals have they set for 2010? A BSC Championhip or #1 ranking in an AP Poll? I think we all can answer that question..........

Sandwich, there shouldn't be an issue with the assertion and/or insinuation that the 2003 defense was better than the 2007 defense, especially when supported with factual information.

I agree with you that the 2003 defensive squad is better than the 2007 defensive squad, but I do believe the 2007 offense was superior. I'm not really one to say who is better, thats why we don't play the game on paper.

I'm not. 2007 won the unified title 2003 did not. That is a fact.

Rochette, could you answer 2 simple questions?

1. Who started on LSU's Defensive Line in 2007?

2. Who finshed the season on the Defensive Line in 2007?

Do you believe LSU 2003 would have played in the BCS title game with a chop-blocked Lavalais & Kyle Williams lost for the Season?

Also throw in Marquis Hill or Marcus Spears (Your choice..) only available for the final 2 games - SECCG & NC game.

Maybe, maybe not, doesn't really matter. The defense in 2003 was stronger than in 2007. End of story.

I thought the original question was about talent - not just DEFENSIVE talent.

People forget how many guys from the offensive side of the ball in 2003 are still in the NFL.

Three of the OL are starters, and a fourth was still on a roster last time I checked.

Both starting WR are still in the league.

Want to talk about injuries on the D in 2007? How about Joe Addai, our starting RB early in 2003, being lost for the year.

One of the reasons I'm not a huge Jimbo Fisher fan. We had waaaaaaay to much talent on that 2003 team to not get more out of it than he did.

2007 team was hampered by injuries to key players, it made a huge difference imo

Um, not to pile on here because I know everyone has already bashed this guy, but I just have to get my two cents in.

Are you retarted? In 2003, we lost to underdog Florida 16-9!!!!!!!!!!!! In 2007, we lost two overtime games, simply because Glenn Dorsey was injured.
