I was in my 3rd year at LSU. What a fun season after starting 2-2. Big upset over Tennessee in the SEC Championship game and then a complete arse whooping of Illinois in the Sugar Bowl. Well, at least the 1st half was an arse whooping, 34-7.

I had just turned 21 two weeks before the Sugar Bowl. A few buddies and I were at Harrahs the entire day and night of the Sugar Bowl. It was packed and fricking awesome! Damn that was a great time!

My freshman year at LSU.
Game at Tennessee, thought we'd beat 'em the first time up there. Kelly Washington Catch after catch, never forget that. UK game M. Clayton catch seems forgotten about. All of the action big games seemed to be on the road...Rohan and Reed going off at Bama. Closing out the Auburn game was awesome Dec 1. First time going to Atlanta for the SECCG was a Euphoric high I'll never forget after growing up in the 90s.

That was my favorite non championship season. It was a roller coaster with early losses against Tennessee, Florida, and a hiccup against Ole Miss. we were able to bounce back with wins over Alabama, Arkansas, and have cigars against Auburn at the end of the year due to 9/11. We went to our first sec championship game and get revenge and spoil Tennessee’s chance to go to the national championship game. We finally made a BCS game in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans and that was a fun team to watch.

Yeah it really did.
Plus, in the late 90s, how many times did we get screwed in that Aub-Ala game, when if the other team would have won, we would've gone to Atlanta, it always was some BS, 2001 we finally handled our shite on our own and didn't have to scoreboard watch.

I was there too. Was that the year Ditka was at the craps table losing his arse off and chain smoking cigars?

Great season and I still remember the snowfall vividly on my way home from the Sugar Bowl.

It’s amazing to think how much fun it was to “Upset” Tennessee and kick the shite out of Illinois in the Sugar Bowl.
No expectations makes sports more fun sometimes and that was where we were as a fanbase until our championship in 03’

Was at the UAB game, 2 things, Booty throws that pick late in the game, a guy in the upper deck tosses a whole plate of nachos, cheese goes all over people, unreal. My buddys sister goes, whats the big deal? They lost to Alabama, no harm in that, right?

LSU did Tennessee a huge favor. Who in their right mind would have wanted to square up against that 2001 Miami team?

I was in Kosovo and stayed up for both Tennessee games - both times with a few hardcore Vol fans and me the only Tiger.

First game sucked.

SECCG was about a week before we redeployed. I showed my arse.

I was at all the home games that year, including watching Rex Grossman torch us. The Auburn game was amazing in December and then went to Atlanta to watch the Tennessee win from way up in the nose bleeds. Dominick Davis went off in that Sugar Bowl. I remember Illinois fans thinking they had a great team because they only had 1 loss. I think the QB was Kittner and we destroyed them.

Josh Reed. My goodness was he fun for this 10 year old at that time. Before the 2019 season, that an easy Top 3 season for me since 2000.
