Correct an invitation. It is subjective and not based on merit.

Shaw: OSU
It's USC/OSU right now. I think you might be right on this one. We will pull Demetrius Wright who is one of the top 5 rated corners too. And have pulled in a very underrated Anthony Brown at CB too.

Jeffcoat: OU
Tim McDonald's son is at 'SC. Greg Townsend's son is a SR. next year and has stated 'SC is going to be in the final cut. Bobby Butler's son is at 'SC. All the guys fathers know each other from the Pros and have stated that 'SC gets players ready for the NFL more than any other program now. Does that mean Jeffcoat goes to 'SC? I have know idea. And no one does right now. His family has been extremely tight-lipped, and speculation amounts to jack shite presently.

Henderson: OSU
Henderson has announced his trips. OSU when they play 'SC, Notre Dame when they play 'SC, Florida, Oklahoma, and 'SC when the play ucla. Seems to be going to three 'SC games.

Prater: Illinois
Prater is committing 9/2, stated USC was his leader, says they are clearly in front, met with Matt Barkley, has known him for a while and wants to play with him, met with other WRs from OOS and talked about adjusting to leaving home and why they are glad they did, wants serious competition everyday and loves the coaching staff. He will commit to USC, and I believe his commitment will stick. He does not sound like your typical unsure, caught-up-in-the-hype 18 year old. He sounds serious about his growth.

Powell: UF
This is a tough one. I think he really favors UF, but I wonder if his family can afford sending him across country. Even though he is a scholar-athlete, you still have to pay for things out-of-pocket (plane tickets, certain living expenses, etc.) as a family. They had serious trouble sending him to the Florida camp a few weeks ago. I think geography will play a big part in this one. And if the kid seriously wants to go to UF, I think that sucks.

its funny you say this, if he became available and was interested in LSU you would take him in a heartbeat over anyone else

And that's where you're wrong. He's a great coach, and perfect for the Pac Ten. I think the only SEC school that he might fit in at would be Florida IMO.

That Reggie Bush bruhaha has tainted Carroll to the point that he would be considered a risky hire in the SEC. Especially to some schools which seems to have a gift for breaking the rules anyway.

Thankfully, LSU is not one of those.

That is absolutely absurd. Though judging by the few other posts I have read of yours, you do not seem very informed at all.

I read last year that Pete Carrol was wanting to have more silent commits so other schools would not negatively recruit as much. Cant remember where i read that though.

PC said that they would not take as many early committs this season. Though if a player that you want, wants to committ, you can't really say no.

The Rose Bowl is the highest rated bcs game of all. Every year it get's the highest ratings of any bowl that is not the mnc bowl. When it was USC and Texas in the Rose bowl, that is the highest rated bcs bowl game ever.

I have not checked their average star ratings for scout or rivals, but USC is definitely not doing as well as far as average as in the past. It seems they are rarely below very high 3s in star averages and sometimes in the 4s. They always seem like they have nothing but 4s and 5s whenever you look at their classes, but this year looks much thinner. Even if you factor in the 4 or 5 more kids they sign they still seem lower.

I don't think Pete Carroll even knows what a star rating is. @ of our most impressive freshmen our Devon Flournoy, a 4 star that got no pub, and Torin Harriss a 3/4 star cb out of Vegas.

As long as Pete Carroll's recruiting classes continue to get drafted at a higher rate than anyone else's I will be happy. Nobody is even remotely close right now. I trust PC's evaluations over Rivals all day

If USC doesn't win the Pac-10 that could hurt there chances in having a top 3-5 class. But the numbers right no don't mean a that much.I've seen them have 12 commitments in October then finish 1-2. Make no mistake Pete Carrol is a great recruiter;however, he has lost several very good coaches in the recent years. It will be interesting to see how they do in the upcoming years. Oklahoma lost several big coaches and haven't won a title since. Will USC follow that trend.

I think we can all agree that USC has pretty much dominated recruiting this decade with PC, especially the Pac 10... but the poster asked a specific question, and I agree..the USC (ESPN) hype machine has died down a lot...

I think the USC fad hype pic has peaked... PC has a few more good years left and then he is done...

Pete Carroll's recruits have either got drafted or made the regular team roster at a rate of just over 50%. That menas 1 out of ever 2 PC recruits ends up in the NFL. Now it will probably be impossible to keep that up, but it is so far out in front of everyone else it is laughable. USC is not going anywhere.

And yet the Trojans haven't won the BCS National Championship in over five years.

Go figure.

Htat is just because mnc's in college football are so subjective. The 2 best teams rarely meet. If we had some sort of playoff then USC would have a few more national championships without a doubt. Would have been favored in 2006, 2007, and 2008 over anyone. But that is why mnc's in college football are a punchline and not much more.
