Recruiting in the major sports

How much is the approach different and how much does the head coach play a factor. I feel like it’s different from football, basketball to baseball. For example now in search of a head baseball coach, can “x” candidate recruit in the southeast. In this particular instance I think it’s the LSU brand that will sell the job and bring in the recruits not whether the head coach “speaks the language” or can make a good pot of jambalaya.
